After the August 1, 2026 increase, QuickBooks Online lists at 38 dollars (Simple Start, unchanged), 85 dollars (Essentials, up from 75), 140 dollars (Plus, up from 115), and 340 dollars (Advanced, up from 275) per month. It is the latest step in a near-annual pattern of summer increases, and the sticker excludes payroll, payments, and time-tracking add-ons.
What it can do. From August 1, 2026, you can get Simple Start for 38 dollars, Essentials for 85 dollars, Plus for 140 dollars, or Advanced for 340 dollars per month, and Advanced now bundles Workforce Elite payroll and Bill Pay Elite at no added cost.
Where it stops. The base price cannot be treated as the real cost: payroll, payments (per-transaction fees), and time tracking are separately priced add-ons, included users are capped per tier (1, 3, 5, and 25), and Intuit has raised list prices almost every summer, so year-one pricing does not hold.
Effective August 1, 2026, QuickBooks Online list prices move for the third summer running. The tier-by-tier change, per Intuit's product update and accountant trade coverage:
A sourcing note in the interest of precision: the pre-increase prices (38, 75, 115, and 275 dollars) are the published list prices from Intuit's own pricing page as of July 2026. The August 1 figures come from Intuit's product-update announcement and reporting by outlets such as Insightful Accountant and NerdWallet, so treat them as reported until you see them on the live pricing page, and confirm there before you commit to a tier.
One partial offset: from the same date, Advanced also bundles Workforce Elite payroll and Bill Pay Elite at no added cost (reported), which softens the 340 dollar sticker for businesses that would have paid for elite payroll anyway.
The pattern matters as much as the numbers. Intuit raises list prices almost every summer: the 2025 round moved Simple Start from 35 to 38 dollars, Essentials from 65 to 75, Plus from 99 to 115, and Advanced from 235 to 275. Stack the rounds and Advanced has gone from 235 to 275 to 340 dollars per month in roughly two years, an increase of about 45 percent. Model the multi-year cost, not year one, and budget on the assumption of an increase most summers.
Two structural reasons the real bill runs above sticker:
For one-person businesses, the lighter QuickBooks Solopreneur product starts around 20 dollars per month, but it is not full double-entry QuickBooks Online, so it is a sidestep rather than a discount on the same product.
