First Citizens Innovation Banking is the former Silicon Valley Bank: a division of First-Citizens Bank & Trust Company, a chartered bank, offering checking, cards, payments, lending and treasury services to venture-backed technology, life science and healthcare companies.
Independently scored, one dimension at a time. Every dimension is sourced, and we say whether a claim is published, reported, or estimated.
The site documents checking, money market accounts, CDs, three sweep options, debit and charge cards, virtual cards, bill pay, ACH, wires, RTP, checks, merchant services, FX, multi-currency accounts, trade finance and venture debt (product pages, checked 11 October 2026). Unlimited virtual cards are listed under the Accelerator Card, and several treasury services are paid add-ons. Investment products come from a separate adviser subsidiary.
Published limits are high: same-day ACH to $1M per entry, next-day ACH credits to $99.9M and RTP to $10M per transfer (ACH and instant payments pages, checked 11 October 2026). Cross-border payments reach 90+ currencies and more than 110 countries, and multi-currency accounts hold up to 19 currencies. Venture debt, corporate banking and trade finance sit in the same bank, so growth rarely forces a move. API rate limits are referenced on the developer portal without public figures on the marketing site.
The platform page (checked 11 October 2026) lists more than 40 permission dimensions, multi-step approvals with amount thresholds and backup approvers, Positive Pay and five user authentication options. Entity disclosure is plain: a division of First-Citizens Bank & Trust Company, with separate wording for sweep and investment products. The product pages checked on that date name no SOC report, and the only single sign-on wording describes one login across banking and investment views, which keeps the score below the top band. This score rates controls and disclosure only.
The Startup Banking FAQ names QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite and Intacct for accounting sync, and the platform page describes a nightly import of balances and transactions. Go Link adds two-way payments and reconciliation inside NetSuite, Sage Intacct and Dynamics 365 Business Central from $100 a month. Plaid, Modern Treasury, SFTP file transmission and a public API round it out; sync depth for QuickBooks and Xero is not documented publicly.
The rebrand FAQ and stage pages describe a relationship manager and relationship advisor for each client, and the locations page lists 25 US locations. The help desk phone line runs 5:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pacific on weekdays per the contact page (both checked 11 October 2026). No response-time commitments are published; the contact page lists phone and email channels.
Opening starts with a three-step questionnaire and continues only if the company qualifies, per the Get started page (checked 11 October 2026). No opening timeline is published; the only stated timelines are best cases: as little as two weeks for the Go Link ERP plug-in and as few as 30 days to close online venture debt. Leaving takes 30 days from notice under the Deposit Agreement.
Some prices are public and dated: the Essentials monthly fee and waiver, included wires, card fees, the Go Link starting price and money market rate tiers as of 30 September 2026. Wire, ACH origination, FX and fraud control prices are in a Schedule of Fees that clients request from a banker, and its public link was broken on 11 October 2026. Two pages also describe the Essentials fee differently.
No MCP server was found in the MCP registry or on GitHub on 11 October 2026. The developer portal's public site map lists ten API groups, payments included, and the platform page says the API can send ACH payments and initiate wires, yet an engineer must build any agent connection and the marketing site describes no self-serve route to production credentials. In-product AI is limited to vendor descriptions of card expense reporting and a cash forecasting integration.
Written by the Audit Friendly research team. No vendor edits, no sponsored placement.
The purchase here is a bank relationship more than an app. Operating accounts sit at First-Citizens Bank & Trust Company, a North Carolina state-chartered bank, and the same login reaches commercial cards, bill pay, ACH, wires, real-time payments, FX, multi-currency accounts, sweeps and venture debt. The platform page lists more than 40 permission dimensions and multi-step approvals with amount thresholds, and each client works with a relationship manager and a relationship advisor.
The catch is how much sits behind a conversation. The application is a questionnaire followed by a banker call, and the bank screens for sector fit. Wire, ACH origination and FX prices live in a Schedule of Fees that clients request, and on 11 October 2026 two pages of the site described the Essentials monthly fee in different terms. The Silicon Valley Bank name was retired on 6 October 2026, yet product names, documents and links still carry it. No MCP server was found on 11 October 2026, and the rebrand FAQ says these accounts are not currently serviced in First Citizens branches.
Before signing, get three things in writing. First, the product sheet and Schedule of Fees and Charges that will govern the account, including which Essentials terms apply and what happens when any introductory pricing ends. Second, the per-item prices for wires beyond the included 15, ACH origination, FX and fraud control services. Third, if engineers plan to use the API, whether API-initiated payments pass through the approval rules set in the banking platform.
Jobs, mapped to how finance teams actually buy.
The platform page says administrators can use more than 40 dimensions to set access and transfer limits for internal and external users. Approval workflows support multi-step authorization, amount thresholds and backup approvers. That suits a finance team that needs separation of duties on wires and ACH.
Go Link is a plug-in for NetSuite, Sage Intacct and Dynamics 365 Business Central, built with FISPAN. Its product brief says ACH, wires, checks and virtual card payments can be sent from the ERP and that prior-day transactions post with auto-match rules. The site says it can be implemented in as little as two weeks.
The site lists payments in 90+ currencies to more than 110 countries, collections in up to 26 currencies and US-domiciled multi-currency accounts that hold up to 19 currencies. In-country accounts in over 25 countries come through the bank's network of local partner banks. FX pricing is quoted by the bank.
The platform page says venture debt can be applied for online and close in as few as 30 days. The venture debt page frames it for companies that have raised a Series A or a seed round of $5M or more. All credit is subject to underwriting and approval.
The instant payments page lists real-time transfers of up to $10M in a single payment on the RTP network, around the clock. Same-day ACH covers up to $1M per entry before a 12:00 PM Pacific deadline, and US dollar wires cut off at 3:00 p.m. Pacific.
Business Interest Sweep keeps money in a deposit account at the bank. Insured Cash Sweep spreads deposits across other IntraFi network banks. Cash Sweep buys money market fund shares, which the site says are not deposits, are not insured by the FDIC and can lose money.

Here's what it really costs: published rates where a vendor lists them, aggregated quote data where they don't, plus a path to your own number.
Published, checked 11 October 2026. Includes 15 outgoing wires a month, ACH received, checks, Bill Pay Classic, Mobile Deposit and the digital banking platform. A different statement on the Startup Banking page cites three years at no charge, then $50 a month.
For scaling companies. Publishes a monthly credit against fees of $150, $350 or $500, tiered by average collected balance from $50,000; standard fees apply beyond the credit (checked 11 October 2026).
Operating balances earn a credit that can offset fees. No price or earnings credit rate is on the site; it is quoted by the bank.
Site says, as of September 30, 2026: 3.56% APY on balances of $1,000,000.01 or more, 2.63% APY from $50,000.01 to $1,000,000.00 and 0.10% APY at $50,000.00 or less, applied to the entire balance. This is a deposit rate on a bank account and the bank can change it at its discretion.
Priced in the Schedule of Fees and Charges, which clients request from a relationship manager. Essentials includes 15 outgoing wires a month; intermediary bank fees can still apply.
Positive Pay, ACH blocking and related controls. The site says they may have monthly, per item or per transaction costs (checked 11 October 2026).
Published starting price on the platform page (checked 11 October 2026). Works with NetSuite, Sage Intacct and Dynamics 365 Business Central; further fees can apply under the Go Link agreement.
No annual fee and no fee for employee cards or the spend management platform, per the cards FAQ. Balances are due in full each billing cycle.
Published in the platform page disclosures (checked 11 October 2026): cash advance fee of 3 percent of the amount, minimum $3 and maximum $50; late payment fee of $32 or 2.5 percent of the unpaid billed charges, whichever is greater.
The home page calls the platform "Free for every client." It covers balances, payments, reporting, user permissions and approval workflows.
The site says: "Silicon Valley Bank now operates as First Citizens Innovation Banking, a division of First Citizens Bank." (https://innovation.firstcitizens.com/about/client-faqs, checked 11 October 2026). Deposits are held by First-Citizens Bank & Trust Company, and product pages add: "Bank deposit products are offered by First-Citizens Bank. Member FDIC and an Equal Housing Lender." FDIC BankFind lists the bank as a North Carolina state-chartered institution supervised by the FDIC, certificate 11063 (checked 11 October 2026). It is the same legal entity that serves First Citizens retail and commercial clients, yet the rebrand FAQ says "SVB accounts aren't currently serviced in First Citizens branches." Read the footer of each product page, because the sweep and investment products follow a different legal arrangement.
The cash management and Insured Cash Sweep pages (https://innovation.firstcitizens.com/liquidity-management/cash-management-accounts, checked 11 October 2026) separate them in the vendor's own words. Insured Cash Sweep moves balances "into deposit accounts at other ICS participating banks" in the IntraFi network, and the disclosure says those placements stop being deposits of First Citizens Bank. Cash Sweep buys money market fund shares; the site says "Shares in money market funds are not deposits" and "are not insured by the FDIC", adding that "it is possible to lose money by investing in a money market fund." SVB Asset Management is described as "an investment adviser registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)" and a "wholly owned, non-bank subsidiary". The Money Market Account and Business Interest Sweep are deposit accounts.
The Essentials page says "More details can be found in the Schedule of Fees and Charges", and the checking overview tells clients to request a copy from a relationship manager. On 11 October 2026 the schedule link on the Essentials page pointed at the retired svb.com address and landed on the new home page. The ACH page answers its own fee question by referring to the relationship team, and the site says "Fraud Control Services may have monthly, per item, or per transaction costs." Get the schedule and the product sheet as documents before comparing this bank with a platform that posts a full price list.
The Essentials product page says the "Monthly account maintenance fee of $25 is waived if billing family monthly average net collected balance is $15,000 or greater." (https://innovation.firstcitizens.com/business-banking/business-checking/essentials, checked 11 October 2026). The Startup Banking page footnote says Essentials is free "for up to three years from account opening on included services" and is then "subject to an account maintenance fee of $50 per month plus outgoing wire fees" (https://innovation.firstcitizens.com/startup-banking, checked 11 October 2026). The two cannot both describe one account. Ask the banker to name the governing product sheet and its date in writing.
First Citizens launched the Innovation Banking brand on 6 October 2026 (https://newsroom.firstcitizens.com/2026-10-06-First-Citizens-Bank-Launches-New-Innovation-Banking-Brand, read 11 October 2026). On 11 October 2026 the site still used SVB Go, SVB Innovator Card and SVB Asset Management alongside "Go by First Citizens", and svb.com redirected to the new home page, including a deep link to a fee document, so old bookmarks break. The client FAQ says login details and relationship managers are unchanged. Banking Dive reported on 23 April 2026 that SVB Financial Trust has sued First Citizens over use of the SVB trademarks, with a jury trial scheduled for February 2027 (reported). Update vendor records, payment instruction templates and audit confirmation requests to the First Citizens name.
The card comparison page (checked 11 October 2026) lists "Unlimited virtual cards with custom controls for any use case" and integration with Airbase, Coupa and Teampay under the Accelerator Card only. The Innovator Card, aimed at early-stage startups, lists 1.5X rewards and the bank's own spend management platform. Both are charge programs: the cards FAQ says the balance "must be paid off in full each billing cycle." A company that plans to pay vendors by virtual card should confirm which card it qualifies for before building a payables process around it.
Scored on what an outside agent can actually reach: the documented API, how it authenticates, and whether the vendor ships an MCP server.
Exists: No first-party MCP server was found on 11 October 2026. The MCP registry returned no entry for First Citizens or SVB, and a GitHub search found no vendor repository. What does exist is a public developer portal at developer.firstcitizens.com; the older developer.svb.com address redirects there.
Scope: The portal's public site map (dated 14 September 2026, checked 11 October 2026) lists ten API groups: authorization, account balance, account transfer, ACH transfers, instant payments, wires, stop payment, virtual cards, webhooks and a reference API. The ACH, wire, instant payment and account transfer groups list create methods, so the API can initiate payments. The bank's platform page describes the same surface: send ACH with same-day settlement, initiate domestic and international wires, check balances in real time, and issue and manage virtual cards.
Turnkey: Nothing here is turnkey for an AI assistant. The marketing site describes no self-serve route to production API credentials, and the portal's public site map lists a JSON Web Signature page under authorization, which points to signed requests. The company's own engineers would have to build and host any agent connection. The site map also lists a rate limiting guideline; the marketing site publishes no limits.
In-product AI: the site describes AI-powered mobile expense reporting on the card spend platform, which the vendor says turns card receipts and invoices into expense reports, and AI-powered cash forecasts through a forecasting integration. These are vendor descriptions; no independent test was found.
First Citizens Bank announced the official launch of First Citizens Innovation Banking and First Citizens Fund Banking. The legal entity and charter did not change.
First Citizens Bank said it acquired 138 branches from BMO Bank N.A. on 4 September 2026 and assumed about $5 billion in deposits and $650 million in loans. This changes the size of the bank that holds Innovation Banking deposits.
Corgi Insurance and Silicon Valley Bank announced a partnership giving clients access to Corgi's digital business insurance products.
First Citizens said SVB would become First Citizens Innovation Banking and First Citizens Fund Banking in Q4 2026, and that it plans to expand in cryptocurrency, payments and international banking, to be announced separately.
Silicon Valley Bank announced a referral partnership with Forge Securities LLC for tender offers and secondary sales for client companies.
Published fees are partial. Essentials Checking shows a monthly maintenance fee of 25 dollars, waived when the billing family's monthly average net collected balance is 15,000 dollars or more (published, checked 11 October 2026). The same footnote includes 15 outgoing wires a month at no charge: 5 domestic, 5 international in US dollars and 5 international in foreign currency.
For a typical small or mid-size company the predictable cost is the monthly fee when balances dip, plus anything beyond the included items: ACH origination, extra wires, FX and fraud control services. None of those prices is on the site. They sit in the Schedule of Fees and Charges, which clients request from a relationship manager.
Other published figures: the Innovator and Accelerator cards have no annual fee, the Go Link ERP plug-in starts at 100 dollars a month, and Premium Checking gives a monthly fee credit of 150, 350 or 500 dollars depending on balance. A separate statement on the Startup Banking page describes Essentials as free on included services for up to three years and 50 dollars a month after that, so confirm which terms apply.
The Deposit Agreement and Disclosure Statement for business accounts (revision effective 2 November 2026, read 11 October 2026) says an authorized signer "may request to close an account at any time, with or without cause, upon notice to us, effective thirty (30) days after such notice is received." It adds that a closed account "may be subject to accrued or prorated fees, charges and/or early withdrawal penalties".
Statements are typically made available through online banking. The agreement says duplicate copies are available on request where the bank still holds them, possibly for a charge, and that the bank typically lacks access to records older than seven years. Download statements and transaction reports before the closing date.
None of the product pages checked on 11 October 2026 describes a bulk export of payees or scheduled payments. The platform page says it generates dozens of report types, and Go Link keeps 90 days of transaction history in the ERP. Ask the banker how payee lists and recurring payments can be exported before giving notice. One detail on the Money Market Account: interest for the month is forfeited if the account closes before the monthly credit.
The bank serves technology, life science and healthcare companies from pre-seed to public, plus venture capital and private equity investors. The Get started page is a three-step questionnaire, and it says: "If you qualify to become a client, a team member will reach out to discuss next steps."
No account opening timeline appears on the Get started, checking or Startup Banking pages (checked 11 October 2026). The only timelines found are for add-ons: the Go Link ERP plug-in "in as little as two weeks" and online venture debt that can "close in as few as 30 days". The checking page says there is no minimum balance to open an account, and the disclosures say accounts are subject to credit approval.
Non-US companies are served from the United States. The site footer says: "First Citizens is not licensed or regulated as a bank or any other type of financial institution outside of the United States of America."
There is no vendor MCP server. On 11 October 2026 the MCP registry had no entry for First Citizens or SVB, and a GitHub search found no vendor repository.
There is a public developer portal at developer.firstcitizens.com. Its public site map (checked 11 October 2026) lists APIs for account balances, account transfers, ACH transfers, wires, instant payments, stop payments, virtual cards and webhooks, and the payment groups list create methods. The bank's platform page says the API can send ACH payments and initiate domestic and international wires. An agent connected to that API by the company's own engineers could therefore initiate a payment.
Nothing about that is turnkey, and the public pages do not say whether API-initiated payments pass through the approval workflows set in the banking platform. Until the bank confirms that in writing, limit any agent to reading data and drafting payments, with a human approver in front of every release.
