Routable is an API-first AP and mass payouts platform for US companies, marketplaces and platforms that pay hundreds to thousands of vendors or contractors a month and keep the books in NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online or Xero.
Independently scored, one dimension at a time. Every dimension is sourced, and we say whether a claim is published, reported, or estimated.
This is the core strength: four ACH speeds, RTP plus FedNow to 85 to 90 percent of US bank accounts, push to Visa and Mastercard debit cards, 11 check options, and local rails or SWIFT to 220+ countries via Convera and Currencycloud (payment options page and docs, 26 September 2026). April 2026 added automatic retries with a Same-Day ACH fallback. There are no virtual cards or rebates, PayPal is limited availability, and stablecoin payouts are announced only.
The pricing page says payments can start in as little as a week and implementation with training averages 4 weeks, led by a dedicated implementation lead. The developer docs say a sandbox follows a sales engineering or developer experience call, and the developer docs warn that switching on an ERP sync after an API build breaks existing Create a Payable calls. Sage Intacct support in the API was still marked beta (docs updated 14 October 2025).
Routable holds SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II reports (routable.com/legal/security) and supports unlimited approval levels and rules. Vendor checks cover 6,000+ watchlists, TIN and ITIN validation and bank account ownership, but the pricing table makes OFAC, TIN and bank checks add-ons below Enterprise. PO matching (2 and 3 way) is NetSuite and USD only, and there is no e-invoicing or VAT handling (all checked 26 September 2026).
Routable pitches 100 to 100,000+ payments and cites Fora at 20,000+ payments a month (vendor case study). Multi-entity starts at the Scale tier, and the Sage Intacct page claims 10+ entities. The ceiling is the payer's country: the API docs (checked 26 September 2026) describe international payouts as made from US companies, and Tracxn reports a staff of 68.
Routable runs a real-time two-way sync with NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online and Xero, including NetSuite custom fields and segments and Intacct dimensions, with multi-currency or base-currency booking (routable.com/integrations, checked 26 September 2026). There is no Business Central, Dynamics or SAP connector listed, and PO matching works only on NetSuite POs.
Growth is published at $1,250 a month billed annually or $1,575 monthly, which beats quote-only rivals. Scale, Enterprise and every add-on are unpriced, and the per-transaction fees across 13 payment speeds are not published (routable.com/pricing, 26 September 2026). Vendr's public page shows a $11,976 median on only 3 purchases.
In-product AI is licensed: the AI disclosure page names Rossum for OCR and Kaunt for predictive coding, which the changelog lists as live in February 2026; accuracy figures are vendor claims. A ReadMe-hosted developer MCP at developers.routable.com/mcp exposes 52 read and write API operations through a generic execute-request tool, but it needs a bearer token, has no OAuth, and the API lacks bill, OCR, PO and approval endpoints (probed 26 September 2026).
The contact page (checked 26 September 2026) says support answers requests in 1 to 3 business days, 6am to 5pm PT, Monday to Friday. Priority support starts at Scale; Slack support, developer support and a dedicated CSM are not offered on Growth, are add-ons on Scale and are included on Enterprise (pricing table). SelectHub reports no phone support, and G2 and Capterra pages were bot-blocked, so review evidence is thin.

You are buying a payments engine first and an AP suite second. Routable moves money over four ACH speeds, RTP and FedNow, push to debit card, 11 check options, and local rails or SWIFT to 220+ countries through Convera and Currencycloud. The REST API has a sandbox, webhooks, idempotency keys and a published limit of 600 requests a minute. On top sit invoice OCR, predictive coding, rule-based approvals, NetSuite PO matching and a two-way sync with four ERPs.
The catch is in the details. PO matching works only on NetSuite purchase orders in USD, and there is no Business Central, Dynamics or SAP connector. There are no virtual cards, so no card rebates. Per-payment fees are not published. The pricing table puts API access, webhooks, multi-entity and SSO above the published Growth tier, while the same page's FAQ says API access is included in the platform fee. The OCR and coding models are licensed from Rossum and Kaunt. Standard support answers in 1 to 3 business days on weekdays. The terms, last updated 29 April 2026, enroll every client in an Instant Pay loan facility.
Before signing, get in writing: the full fee schedule for each of the 13 payment speeds and the FX margin; whether API access and webhooks are in your tier; the vendor cap on Growth; a waiver or cap on the negative balance fee, which the terms set at 1 percent of the shortfall added each business day; a cap on renewal increases, since the terms let fees rise when Routable's providers raise theirs; and a support response target. If you do not want the Instant Pay loan facility, use the opt-out the terms provide (written notice or Dashboard settings, effective within five business days) before launch.
Jobs, mapped to how finance teams actually buy.
Onboarding, payment methods, tax forms and payables are all API objects, so a platform can keep its own UI and let Routable hold bank details. Approval rules still apply to API-created payables. Build against the sandbox first, and connect the ERP before coding.
Instant payments route over RTP or FedNow automatically and must be funded from the Routable balance. They are final and cannot be canceled once initiated. Since July 2026, payees can also pay for instant delivery themselves through the Instant Pay Upgrade.
Vendors submit W-9, W-8BEN or W-8BEN-E forms in a branded flow without creating an account. Routable exports filing data compatible with services like Tax1099 and Track1099; filing itself is an add-on on every tier, with no published price.
Routable links bill lines to PO lines with OCR and matching, holds payment on discrepancies and supports tolerances. PO matching is an add-on on Scale and included on Enterprise. Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online and Xero users are on a waitlist.
Payments go by local rails or SWIFT in 1 to 3 business days through Convera and Currencycloud. You can choose to split SWIFT fees with the vendor, and an estimate endpoint shows fees and the rate before sending. The docs describe this for payers based in the US.

Here's what it really costs: published rates where a vendor lists them, aggregated quote data where they don't, plus a path to your own number.
Unlimited seats, ERP integrations, domestic, international and instant payments, invoice OCR, standard approvals, branded vendor onboarding and W-9 and W-8 collection. The comparison table shows no API access, webhooks, multi-entity or SSO.
Adds trainable OCR, API access, webhooks, multi-entity support, priority support and up to 1,000 vendors; PO matching, advanced approvals, custom roles and SSO are add-ons.
Adds PO matching, advanced approvals, up to 3,000 vendors, OFAC, TIN, ITIN and bank ownership checks, SSO, custom roles, Slack and developer support and a dedicated CSM.
AI header and line coding into ERP fields; listed as an add-on on every tier.
Year-end filing support; listed as an add-on on every tier. Tax form collection itself is included.
Charged per transaction on top of the subscription across 13 speeds of instant, ACH and check; the schedule is not published.
Per the terms of service updated 29 April 2026, Routable charges 1 percent on the negative balance accrued each business day. Its own example charges $50 on a $5,000 shortfall, then $20 when the shortfall grows to $7,000, for $70 in total. After two consecutive negative days it can debit the linked bank account.
Payees can opt into instant delivery for a fee they pay; the payer's workflow, timing and cost stay the same (July 2026 changelog).
Routable's pricing page (checked 26 September 2026) marks API Access and Webhooks as not included on Growth, the only published tier, and lists them from Scale up. The same page's FAQ says API and developer access is included in the platform fee. Multi-entity, SSO and custom roles also start at Scale. For an API-first vendor, the price that matters is the Scale quote, so ask for it before comparing against the $1,250 a month headline.
The pricing FAQ says customers pay a per-transaction fee that varies by method and speed, across 13 speeds of instant, ACH and check. Routable does not publish the amounts, and its help center blocked automated access on 26 September 2026. SelectHub reports users citing extra charges for transactions over $100,000. Model your real payment mix against a written fee schedule, including the FX margin on international payouts.
The terms of service (last updated 29 April 2026) automatically enroll each client in the Instant Pay loan facility run by affiliate Routable US LLC. When a payee elects an instant payout, Routable US lends the client the payment amount and repays itself from the underlying ACH payment when it settles, or from the prefunded balance or linked bank account if it does not. There is no interest today, but the terms allow interest with 30 days' notice; a repayment more than three business days late can cost the greater of $25 or 1.5 percent a month, and a default lets Routable call all loans due. The terms let a client opt out by written notice or in Dashboard account settings, effective within five business days, without affecting loans already made. Ask your controller and auditors how to present any loans, and decide on the opt-out before launch.
The PO matching FAQ (checked 26 September 2026) says matching works only for purchase orders created in NetSuite, in USD, and that support for Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online and Xero is coming soon via a waitlist. It is also an add-on on Scale and included only on Enterprise. If you run 3 way match on another ERP or in foreign currency, Routable cannot replace that control today.
Routable's developer docs warn that activating a NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online or Xero integration adds required data to calls such as Create a Payable, and that this will break an existing integration. The fix is to connect the ERP in the sandbox before building. Sage Intacct support in the API was still labeled beta in docs updated 14 October 2025, so confirm its status for your go-live.
Unless the order form says otherwise, the agreement runs 12 months and auto-renews for one-year terms, and services are non-cancelable and non-refundable (terms updated 29 April 2026). Routable can raise fees when its third-party providers raise theirs, and unpaid invoices are auto-debited after a 7 day grace period. Liability is capped at fees paid in the prior 12 months. Negotiate a renewal cap and notice period in the order form.
Scored on what an outside agent can actually reach: the documented API, how it authenticates, and whether the vendor ships an MCP server.
In-product AI is real but licensed. Routable's AI Use and Governance Disclosure names Rossum as the sub-processor for invoice OCR and Kaunt for predictive coding, and says all AI output is advisory, with the approval workflow gating any payment. Predictive coding was announced on 9 June 2025 and listed as live in the February 2026 changelog. Routable claims 92 percent extraction accuracy and 60 percent less coding time; no independent account confirms either. AI agents for invoice fraud were announced on 6 February 2025; no developer documentation for them was found, and the help center blocked automated access.
Exists: yes. Routable documents a remote MCP server at developers.routable.com/mcp (page updated 9 April 2026). It is the ReadMe-generated server that sits on the API reference and is aimed at developers. It is not listed in the official MCP registry or Routable's GitHub org.
Scope: read and write. A probe on 26 September 2026 returned five tools: list-endpoints, get-endpoint, search-endpoints, get-server-variables and execute-request, which is flagged destructive and can call any of 52 operations over companies, contacts, payment methods, payables, receivables, tax forms, compliance reports, webhooks and balance deposits, in sandbox or production. The API has no endpoints for the invoice inbox, OCR results, PO matching or approving a payable.
Turnkey: no. The user must supply a bearer API token, created under Account Settings, API access, in the Routable dashboard, and there is no OAuth sign-in. The pricing table does not include API access on the Growth tier. Tipalti and BILL run near-identical ReadMe servers with the same execute-request tool, plus documentation search and fetch tools, so Routable has no edge here.
Who wins for whom: NetSuite teams paying in USD that want PO matching and unlimited approval levels: Routable. Payers collecting W-8 forms, 1042-S data or VAT IDs abroad: Tipalti. Small US teams that want an unalterable audit trail and 1099 e-filing on every plan: BILL.
Approvals and NetSuite PO matching. Routable runs unlimited approval levels and rules, matches bill lines to NetSuite PO lines 2 and 3 way with tolerances and holds payment on discrepancies, and carries SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II reports.
Where it loses: PO matching covers only NetSuite POs in USD and is an add-on on Scale, while OFAC, TIN and bank ownership checks are add-ons below Enterprise and e-invoicing is absent.

Tax forms and screening built in. Tipalti captures W-9 and W-8 forms with TIN matching, prepares 1099 and 1042-S reports, screens payees against OFAC and Do Not Pay before each payment, and matches invoices 2 and 3-way at header and line level.
Where it loses: Per-invoice fees are quote only above the $99 monthly entry price, and the services agreement promises a data download only during the term, while supplier tax forms and audit trails live in Tipalti.

Approvals, W-9 Agent, 1099 e-file. Every BILL plan gets approval workflows and the W-9 Agent, the audit trail is time-stamped and cannot be altered, 1099s e-file to the IRS and 50 states, and SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II audits run annually.
Where it loses: Dual control is Enterprise only, ERP PO sync with 2 and 3-way matching sits on the quote-only Enterprise plan, and none of the pages reviewed mention e-invoicing mandates outside the US.

Who wins for whom: Platforms paying drivers or contractors instantly over RTP and FedNow: Routable. Payers with suppliers in 200+ countries who want 25 currencies held and converted in one place: Tipalti. Small US teams that want free virtual card payments and each domestic fee posted: BILL.
Instant, ACH, check and local rails. Routable pays over four ACH speeds, RTP and FedNow to 85 to 90 percent of US bank accounts, push to debit card, 11 check options, and local rails or SWIFT to 220+ countries.
Where it loses: There are no virtual cards or card rebates, per-payment fees are quote only, and the terms auto-enroll every client in an Instant Pay loan facility unless it opts out.

Licensed global payouts, 200+ countries. Tipalti moves money itself by ACH, global ACH, SEPA, wire, check, PayPal and cashback virtual cards to 200+ countries, holding and converting 25 currencies under US and Canadian money transmitter and UK and EU e-money licenses.
Where it loses: Per-payment and FX conversion fees are quote only, the card cashback rate is not published, and Tipalti can draw its fees from the account that funds payee payments.

Posted per-payment fee table. BILL publishes ACH at $0.59, check at $1.99, free virtual card, card-funded payments at 2.9 percent and instant payments at 1 percent, runs processing in-house with Positive Pay on checks, and pays vendors in 130+ countries.
Where it loses: The FX margin on free local-currency wires is not disclosed, no payer rebate on virtual card payments is published, and API payments need an SMS-verified session.

Listed under July 2026: payees can pay for instant delivery, and domestic ACH payments can stay cancellable for a configurable window.
Listed under April 2026: RTP and FedNow payments retry after 15 minutes and 2 hours, with optional fallback to Same-Day ACH, plus new API filters and webhooks.
Listed under February 2026 in the product changelog: in-app predictive coding for header and line fields, plus a dedicated Compliance section with bulk actions.
FedNow joins RTP under one Instant option. The 13 August 2025 release says this reaches up to 85 percent of US bank accounts; the August 2025 product changelog and the developer docs say 85 to 90 percent.
A partnership to let payees receive USD via stablecoin; the release says this will soon be an option, and no developer docs for it were found by 26 September 2026.
Announced at Sage Future: machine learning predicts header and line-level coding for non-PO invoices and learns from corrections.
Growth, the only published tier, is $1,250 a month billed annually ($15,000 a year) or $1,575 billed monthly, with unlimited users (routable.com/pricing, checked 26 September 2026). Scale and Enterprise are quote only, and most mid-market buyers who need the API, multi-entity or SSO will land there.
Budget separately for payments. Routable charges a per-transaction fee that varies by rail and speed and does not publish the schedule. The one public benchmark, Vendr, shows a median of $11,976 a year, but from only 3 purchases.
The default term is 12 months, auto-renewing for one-year periods, non-cancelable and non-refundable, and fees can rise when Routable's payment providers raise theirs (terms updated 29 April 2026). The terms also enroll clients in an Instant Pay loan facility, with an opt-out by written notice or Dashboard settings, and charge 1 percent on the negative prefunded balance added each business day.
The terms have no clause on returning data at exit. In practice, the March and April 2026 changelogs added table exports, including export of selected rows from the vendor tables, and the API lists payables, receivables, companies, payment methods and tax forms. Ask for a written export commitment, including payment confirmations and W-9 and W-8 forms.
Routable says payments can start in as little as a week and that implementation with team training averages 4 weeks, led by a dedicated implementation lead with a backup team (pricing page). Routable also claims most API builds take a single developer a few days.
Your side supplies the AP lead and controller for approval rules and ERP mapping, and a developer if you embed payouts. Connect the ERP in the sandbox before building API calls, because turning the sync on later breaks existing code. NetSuite shops can use a partner such as Beyond Cloud Consulting, announced 2 October 2025.
Partly, and only through a developer path. Routable documents a ReadMe-hosted MCP server at developers.routable.com/mcp. On 26 September 2026 it exposed an execute-request tool that can call 52 API operations, reading and writing vendors, payment methods, payables, tax forms and compliance reports.
It is not turnkey. It needs a bearer API token created under Account Settings in the Routable dashboard, has no OAuth sign-in, and the pricing table does not include API access on Growth. The API has no endpoints to approve a payable, read the invoice inbox or work PO holds, so an agent cannot run the AP review loop. Keep approval rules on and start with a sandbox token.
