Dallas is a big, busy, corporate-heavy market for senior accountants and almost nobody tells you what the jobs pay, which is a hell of a way to run a job search. In the senior accountant postings we track in Audit Friendly's database of more than 80,000 accounting and finance jobs, the Dallas-Fort Worth metro had 137 open roles as of October 2026, and only 45 of them, about a third, put a pay range in the listing. So when you read a "what does a senior accountant make in Dallas" number somewhere, keep in mind it was probably built off a fraction of the market, and what follows carries the same caveat, because I'm not going to pretend 45 postings is the whole truth.
Where the pay is listed, the midpoint of the posted range lands around $97,500, with the middle half of those postings running from roughly $83,750 up to $114,000. The typical posting floor is $85,000 and the typical ceiling is $105,000, so if you see a range that wide, negotiate toward the top half when you bring real close and reporting experience. For context, the Bureau of Labor Statistics put the national median for all accountants and auditors at $83,680 in May 2025, and senior titles in a big metro sitting above that makes sense, though 45 postings is a small sample and I wouldn't carve it in stone, since the national salary guides built on a handful of survey responses are no better and often more bullshit. Cross-check it against what staff accountants earn in Dallas and you can see the step up between the two levels is real money.
The employer list is more lumpy than I expected, and one name carries a lot of it: CoreWeave accounts for 13 of the 137 postings, which says a lot about where the AI infrastructure money is landing in North Texas. After that it thins out fast, with Vistra at 5, Topgolf and Beyond at 4 each, and DPR at 3, then a long tail of healthcare, senior living, building products and industrial companies with one or two openings apiece. About 14 postings don't name the company at all, and honestly I'd treat those with suspicion, because nobody who's proud of the job hides the employer, and since that pattern usually points to a recruiter fishing for resumes. You can skip that noise on the Audit Friendly senior accountant board, which pulls postings daily and links straight to the employer's own career page.
A CPA gets mentioned in 81 of the 137 postings, roughly 59 percent, which is high enough that skipping it will cost you callbacks, though mentioning a credential and requiring it are different animals and plenty of those lines say "CPA preferred." If you're weighing the exam, our look at which accounting jobs actually require a CPA breaks down where it's a hard filter and where it just helps you stand out. My read for Dallas is that the license matters most at the larger public and regulated employers and a lot less at the mid-market companies hiring a senior to own the close.
Not really, and this pissed me off a little given how many Dallas finance teams swear they're flexible. Zero of the 137 Dallas postings are remote, while 23 of them, about 17 percent, flag a hybrid arrangement. So the Dallas senior accountant market is an in-person one, and if you want fully remote you're searching a different pool, and our remote accounting jobs board is where I'd start. On the benefits side, 61 of the 137 postings, around 45 percent, spell out a 401(k) in the listing, so ask about it early if it isn't written down.
If I were hunting a senior accountant seat in Dallas this month, I'd apply first to the employers that publish a pay range, because it saves you a round of guessing and tells you the company isn't embarrassed by its number. Then I'd lean into the CPA conversation if I had it and get specific about an ERP I know cold, since that's what separates a senior from a staff accountant with a promotion. And I'd compare the offer against how the same title pays elsewhere, for instance in Charlotte, where banking pulls senior pay up, so you know whether Dallas is giving you a fair shake or just a big metro.
Among Dallas postings that list pay, the midpoint of the posted range is about $97,500, and the middle half run from roughly $83,750 to $114,000. Only about a third of postings show a range, so treat it as a guide.
We tracked 137 open senior accountant postings in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro as of October 2026. The count moves daily, so check the job board for what's live.
About 59 percent of the postings mention a CPA, often as preferred rather than required. It helps your odds noticeably, especially at larger employers.
In our data none of the Dallas postings are fully remote, and roughly 17 percent mention a hybrid setup. Remote seats exist, they just aren't tied to a Dallas listing.
CoreWeave leads our data with 13 postings, followed by Vistra, Topgolf, Beyond and DPR, then a long tail of mid-market employers.
Go build yourself a short list of five Dallas employers this week, put the posted pay next to each, and you'll know more about this market than most people applying to it.
