Ottimate, formerly Plate IQ, is line-item AP automation and vendor payments for US multi-location operators in restaurants, hospitality, grocery and healthcare, with free ACH and vCard rails and a read-only MCP for Claude.
Independently scored, one dimension at a time. Every dimension is sourced, and we say whether a claim is published, reported, or estimated.
A first-party remote MCP at mcp.ottimate.com was announced 10 June 2026 and remains a beta, free to early adopters during the beta per the helpdesk updated 2 September 2026. It is read-only over invoices, line items, vendors, approvals and dimensions, and any paid Claude plan adds it as a custom connector with an Ottimate login. The public v1 REST API can create and approve invoices and create payments, but credentials come through a partner process and webhooks are still on the roadmap (docs.ottimate.com, checked 26 September 2026). In-product capture and coding accuracy figures are vendor claims.
Integration pages cover NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online and Desktop 2018+, Dynamics (GP, NAV, Business Central, Finance, SL) and Acumatica, with unlimited custom dimensions and line-level coding. 2026 releases added Intacct amount-based PO matching and freight lines for Intacct and NetSuite. Xero, SAP Business One and Restaurant365 appear only as logo tiles with empty detail pages, so their depth is unverified.
VendorPay issues vCards and standard ACH at no cost, Priority ACH at $0.50, Fast ACH at $5 and checks from $1.74 (schedule updated 29 July 2026), with vCard cashback and Positive Pay files. Stripe, Dwolla, Corpay, Marqeta and others sit underneath, and cards are issued by Celtic Bank. Vendor enrollment decides which rails are open, payments created through the API cannot request one, vCards take 2 to 3 business days to generate per the help article updated 19 August 2026, and cross-border stops at Canada.
Approval policies by vendor, amount and location, 2 and 3 way PO match, and line-level price variance flags (June 2026 release notes) cover the core controls. Trust Score flags duplicates and first-time vendors, and the security page claims SOC 2 Type 1 and Type 2 with SSO, MFA and role permissions. No SOC 1 claim and no 1099 or W-9 workflow turned up in the helpdesk on 26 September 2026.
Onboarding pairs each customer with a Customer Success Manager, an Onboarding Specialist and a Technical Onboarding Specialist, plus a ticketing helpdesk (support.ottimate.com). No published response-time SLA or phone line was found. Review evidence is good but second-hand: G2 4.6 from 167 reviews and Capterra 4.0 from 53, per an aggregator verified 6 June 2026.
Ottimate runs the build itself through kickoff, implementation, go-live and adoption phases (helpdesk roadmap, May 2025). The go-live benchmark is 40 percent of the invoice threshold exported to the ERP, and 40 percent paid through VendorPay, within two months. Its vendor outreach team handles vCard enrollment, but no week-by-week timeline is published.
The account, company and location hierarchy with unlimited dimensions handles large multi-site groups, and the vendor cites 100,000 invoices a day platform-wide. Money movement is the ceiling: the Payments API accepts only USD and CAD, and Canada Pay requires USD invoices (helpdesk, June 2026). It is a mid-market fit, not a global multi-currency one.
The subscription is quote only and no public Vendr or SpendHound benchmark exists (checked 26 September 2026). The billing unit is public in the MSA (a Document of 1 to 4 pages, with overage above threshold), and the full US and Canada payment fee schedules are published PDFs. The MSA also discloses a 5 percent renewal uplift right and a 3 percent surcharge on card-paid invoices.
Written by the Audit Friendly research team. No vendor edits, no sponsored placement.
You are buying a line-item capture and coding engine that grew out of Plate IQ's restaurant work, plus VendorPay for paying vendors. It is strongest where invoices are long distributor bills spread across many locations. Item catalog checks and line-level price variance flags catch overcharges that header totals hide. Standard ACH and virtual card payments cost nothing to issue on the published schedule, and vCards earn cashback.
The catch is the contract. The subscription is quote only and billed per Document of 1 to 4 pages, with overage above your threshold. The standard MSA, revised 30 July 2026, lets Ottimate raise recurring fees 5 percent at each renewal and auto-renews for a full term. Payments cover the US plus Canada only. The public API needs partner-issued credentials, and the MCP cannot write anything yet.
Before signing, get these in writing: the Document threshold and overage rate, a cap or waiver on the 5 percent renewal uplift, and whether your tier runs AI-only or human-in-the-loop extraction and at what turnaround. Also get the vCard cashback rate, which the proposal sets, and a data export commitment that covers invoice images, since the MSA has no specific export clause.
Jobs, mapped to how finance teams actually buy.
InstantCapture reads header and line items from PDFs, photos and email, then suggests GL codes per line from past choices. Ottimate claims 93.3 percent of lines code correctly without a touch. Plan for a review queue on new vendors and new items.
Trust Score tags each invoice with a risk level based on vendor history, amount patterns and sender, and flags first-time vendors. Approval policies can auto-approve high-trust invoices and route low-trust ones for review. The dollar figure is a vendor claim.
Line-level price variance compares each row's unit price with the PO or the last price paid, and unmatched invoices drop into a Needs Attention queue. Fully matched invoices can auto-approve to the ERP. Receipt sync is needed for 3-way matching.
VendorPay pays by vCard, ACH, check or card on file, and Ottimate's outreach team enrolls vendors in vCards. vCard spend earns cashback at the rate in your proposal. Checks still cost $1.74 or more each.
Locations carry their own permissions, mapping rules and approval workflows under one account and company structure. Managers snap invoices on mobile and approve in the queue. The customer figures come from Ottimate's own videos.
Finance leaders add Ottimate MCP to Claude and ask questions like pending approvals over $5,000 or top vendors by spend. Answers respect each user's Ottimate permissions. It reads only; approvals and payments stay in Ottimate.

Here's what it really costs: published rates where a vendor lists them, aggregated quote data where they don't, plus a path to your own number.
Billed per Document (1 to 4 pages of one transaction) against a monthly threshold, with overage at the standard rate (MSA section 3.6).
2 to 3 business days.
Same day or next day delivery.
$0.92 handling and printing plus $0.82 postage; 5 to 7 business days by USPS.
Bundled price; 1 to 3 business days by USPS.
Bundled price; next day delivery by FedEx.
Per vCard chargeback issued or per failed ACH debit.
4 to 5 business days; applies only to Canadian vendors, invoices must be in USD.
4 to 5 business days to Canadian vendors.
First class check in 5 to 8 business days, or overnight by FedEx next business day.
The MSA lets Ottimate add 3 percent when you pay its invoices by credit or debit card; ACH avoids it.
Single-use virtual card; the fee schedule (29 July 2026) says 1 to 3 business days to arrive, while the help article updated 19 August 2026 says 2 to 3 business days to generate. Up to $750,000 per payment after account verification and credit review; earns cashback at the proposal rate.
Section 3.13 of the MSA, last revised 30 July 2026, lets Ottimate raise contracted recurring fees 5 percent annually on the renewal date. Section 7.5 auto-renews for a period equal to the initial term; if Ottimate changes prices for a renewal term it must give at least 30 days' notice, and the customer may then terminate before that term starts. Otherwise section 7.4 allows termination for convenience only at term end with 30 days' notice, and prepaid fees are non-refundable. Negotiate a cap or waiver in the proposal. Checked 26 September 2026.
MSA section 3.6 counts one Document per 1 to 4 pages. Each extra 1 to 4 pages of the same transaction is another Document, and duplicate pages bill as well. Uploads above your threshold bill at the standard rate on top of the monthly fee; the MSA's own example is 243 uploads against a 200 threshold. Long distributor invoices can run several Documents each, so model page counts before signing. Checked 26 September 2026.
The Payments API guide says Ottimate chooses the rail from the location's configuration and the vendor's enrollment, with no field to request one. Payment currency is USD or CAD only. Canada Pay, per a helpdesk article updated 10 June 2026, requires invoices in USD, and the international fee schedule applies only to Canadian vendors. Checked on docs.ottimate.com and support.ottimate.com, 26 September 2026.
The payment options article (updated 19 August 2026) says vCards take 2 to 3 business days to generate, with an 11:45 AM CT approval cutoff for same-day start. If a vendor has not processed a vCard after 25 business days, Ottimate cancels it, refunds it and reschedules the payment as ACH or check. Chargebacks and failed ACH debits cost $40 each on the published schedule. If you enable VendorPay, the MSA makes it your exclusive way to generate invoice payments.
API access runs through a four-phase partner integration journey with sandbox credentials, then production keys. Each key has a 10,000 request daily quota, and more needs a Partner Manager. Webhooks were listed as Q2 2026 'under development' on the release plan when checked 26 September 2026. The MCP launched 10 June 2026 is read-only and cannot approve, edit or pay.
The home page says 98 percent capture accuracy. The NetSuite page says 99 percent, the capture page says 99.5 percent header and 95 percent line-item, and the QuickBooks page says 99.7 percent line-item. The API docs say some tiers run a human-in-the-loop extraction pipeline with longer processing. Ask which pipeline your tier gets and test on a sample of your own invoices. Checked 26 September 2026.
Scored on what an outside agent can actually reach: the documented API, how it authenticates, and whether the vendor ships an MCP server.
In-product AI does line-item capture, GL coding and risk scoring. Ottimate claims 99.5 percent header and 95 percent line-item capture accuracy, and says 93.3 percent of lines are coded automatically. Those are vendor claims, and other Ottimate pages quote 98, 99 and 99.7 percent. The API docs say some tiers run a human-in-the-loop extraction pipeline with longer turnaround. Copilot answers questions inside the app, and Trust Score flags duplicates, first-time vendors and odd amounts.
The MCP exists and is first-party: a remote server at mcp.ottimate.com/mcp, announced 10 June 2026. Its scope is read-only over invoices, line items, vendors, approvals and accounting dimensions. It cannot approve, edit, delete or pay. Each user sees only what their Ottimate permissions allow, and data lags about 15 minutes. The helpdesk, updated 2 September 2026, still calls it a beta that is free to early adopters and beta users during the beta period, so ask what it will cost afterwards.
It is close to turnkey. Any paid Claude plan adds it as a custom connector with no client ID, then signs in with the Ottimate login. The one-click Claude directory listing was still in Anthropic review per the helpdesk article updated 2 September 2026. It does not appear in the official MCP registry or on GitHub. The docs site also runs a separate MCP that searches documentation only, which is not a data MCP.
The public v1 REST API (docs.ottimate.com) goes further than the MCP. It can create, upload, update, approve and flag invoices, manage vendors and dimensions, and create or cancel payments. Purchase order and receipt endpoints reached beta on 5 March 2026. Access runs through a partner integration process with sandbox credentials, a 10,000 request daily quota per key, and webhooks still listed as roadmap.
Who wins for whom: Multi-location operators that want duplicate and price-creep flags on each invoice: Ottimate. Teams whose auditors want every field change logged with before and after values: Stampli. PO-heavy teams matching invoices against receipts and delivery notes 4 way: Vic.ai.
Price variance and Trust Score. Ottimate routes approvals by vendor, amount and location, runs 2 and 3 way PO matching with line-level price variance checks, and tags each invoice with a Trust Score that flags duplicates and first-time vendors.
Where it loses: No SOC 1 claim and no 1099 or W-9 workflow turned up in its helpdesk, and 3-way matching only works once receipts sync into Ottimate.

Line-level matching, logged approvals. Stampli matches invoices to POs and receipts 2 and 3-way at line level, logs every approval, message and field change with before and after values, and holds SOC 1, 2 and 3 plus PCI DSS.
Where it loses: 1099 filing stays in the ERP and Stampli publishes no e-invoicing support such as PEPPOL, so teams with EU entities or heavy 1099 volume need another tool for those steps.

4-way matching, audit-logged approvals. Vic.ai matches invoices 2, 3 and 4 way against POs, receipts and delivery notes with tolerance settings, routes audit-logged multi-step approvals by amount, vendor, GL account or department, and says it holds SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II reports.
Where it loses: 1099 support is only a vendor tracking flag with no documented filing, and no e-invoicing mandate coverage is published even though the API accepts PEPPOL BIS Billing 3 files.

Who wins for whom: US operators moving vendors to free standard ACH and cashback vCards: Ottimate. Teams paying suppliers in 100+ countries with target FX rates: Stampli. US teams that want ACH, check and card payments with no U.S. transaction fees: Vic.ai.
Free vCards and standard ACH. VendorPay issues vCards and standard ACH at no cost, Priority ACH at $0.50, Fast ACH at $5 and checks from $1.74, with vCard cashback at the proposal rate and Positive Pay files.
Where it loses: Vendor enrollment picks the rail and the API cannot request one, vCards take 2 to 3 business days to generate, and cross-border payments stop at Canada.

Direct Pay from your own account. Direct Pay sends ACH, check, virtual card and international payments to 100+ countries with target FX rates from the customer's own account, behind a separate payment approval, and virtual cards earn up to 1 percent cashback.
Where it loses: Direct Pay fees sit in an order form with no published FX markup, Stampli can raise them on 14 days notice, and international wires take 4 to 5 business days.

VicPay with no U.S. fees. Approved invoices move into VicPay for ACH, check or virtual card payment with no U.S. transaction fees, early payment discount detection and Plaid bank verification in the vendor portal, running on Increase and Core Bank since August 2026.
Where it loses: Customers must open a new Core Bank account in their own name before payments continue, and the August 2026 release does not mention cross-border payments or FX.

Ottimate released a mobile app covering receipt parsing, mileage tracking, expense reports and approvals.
Part of the 2026 Summer Release, the MCP brings AP data into Claude and ChatGPT. The same release upgraded Copilot with statement reconciliation support.
Ottimate named Shawn Lane, previously CEO of LivTech, as chief executive to lead its next phase of AI-driven growth.
The public API added beta endpoints for POs and receipts to support 2 and 3 way matching, plus dimensions on PO lines.
Ottimate added card-on-file autopay for recurring vendors, CSV-driven standalone payments, and production API v1.0.0 access.
The first public API release covered vendors, dimensions and invoice retrieval, the base that the MCP later builds on.
Ottimate does not publish a subscription price, and no public Vendr or SpendHound benchmark existed on 26 September 2026. The quote is built on Documents, where each 1 to 4 pages of one transaction counts as one, against a monthly threshold with overage at the standard rate (MSA section 3.6).
Payment fees are published. vCards and standard ACH are $0 to issue, Priority ACH $0.50, Fast ACH $5.00 and a standard check $1.74 (schedule updated 29 July 2026). vCard cashback, at the rate your proposal sets, can offset part of the subscription.
Ask for the monthly Document threshold, the overage rate per Document, and a written cashback estimate based on how your vendors are paid today.
The standard MSA, revised 30 July 2026, auto-renews for a period equal to the initial term. It allows a 5 percent increase to recurring fees at each renewal. You can only terminate for convenience at the end of a term, with 30 days' written notice, and prepaid fees are non-refundable. Disputes go to binding arbitration under California law.
The MSA has no specific data export clause. It only requires return or destruction of confidential information on termination. Day to day, reports and Copilot tables export to CSV, and the API lists invoices and line items. Before signing, get a written commitment to a full export of invoices, line items, approvals and original images at exit, with a timeline.
Ottimate's own team runs it. The onboarding roadmap moves through kickoff and account build, implementation (key user training, working ERP export, an end-to-end workflow), go-live and adoption.
The published benchmark is 40 percent of your invoice threshold exported to the ERP, and 40 percent processed through VendorPay, within the first two months. Only then does Ottimate hand you to Customer Success. No week-by-week timeline is published, so ask for one in the proposal.
Claude can read it. Ottimate MCP, launched 10 June 2026, connects Claude (any paid plan, as a custom connector at mcp.ottimate.com/mcp) or ChatGPT in Developer Mode. It works with your existing Ottimate login and your existing permissions. It answers questions over invoices, line items, vendors, approvals and dimensions, with about a 15 minute data lag.
It cannot approve, edit, code or pay. Write actions exist in the public v1 REST API, which covers invoice upload and approval and payment creation. Access runs through a partner integration process, with a 10,000 request daily quota per key.
