At Audit Friendly we're tracking 515 live accounting and finance postings in the Nashville metro as of August 2026, out of roughly 1,700 the market has produced since we started watching it, and the first thing the data tells you is who actually signs the checks here. Four of the eleven biggest employers posting accounting roles are healthcare operators - OneOncology, Acadia Healthcare, Surgery Partners, Wellpath - which means a big slice of Music City's accounting work is revenue cycle, payer reconciliations, and hospital cost reporting rather than anything to do with a stage. The tourists see honky-tonks, and the general ledgers see patient volumes.
Three groups dominate the live postings. Public accounting has a real bench here - Frazier & Deeter is running 13 open roles in our data, BDO USA has 11, Elliott Davis has 7 - and then there's the healthcare block I mentioned, and then a corporate layer that surprises people: Amazon shows 13 accounting and finance postings tied to Nashville, largely because its operations hub keeps growing, and Yusen Logistics has 11, because Middle Tennessee moves a staggering amount of freight and somebody has to account for it.
One honest caveat, because clean data is our whole pitch: the single biggest poster in the raw Nashville feed is a staffing firm, LBMC Staffing Solutions, with 36 open reqs. We strip the worst recruiter noise out of the database, but Nashville genuinely runs on a staffing layer more than most metros, so expect to deal with intermediaries here more often than you would in the coastal markets. Plenty of those placements are real and good, you just want to know which client and whose W-2 before you invest three rounds of interviews.
Only 136 of the 515 live postings - about a quarter - put a salary in writing, which tracks with what we found when we mapped salary transparency state by state, because Tennessee has no pay transparency law and it shows. So treat every number here as the visible tip of the market.
Senior accountant is the biggest single role with 39 live postings, and the ones that show pay cluster around $89,000 at the midpoint. Staff accountant postings (36 live) land near $73,000. Accounting managers sit around $120,000, tax managers around $135,000, and finance managers - who publish their pay 11 times out of 12 here, bless them - come in near $134,000. Controller postings appear 21 times and the few that publish numbers sit in the $160,000 to $190,000 range, though that's three data points, so hold it loosely.
Zoom out and the BLS May 2025 wage data for the Nashville metro says business and financial occupations average $41.69 an hour against $45.78 nationally, so on paper this market pays about 9% under the national number. The counterweight is that Tennessee taxes exactly none of your wage income, which quietly closes a lot of that gap in take-home terms, and housing, while nowhere near the bargain it was a decade ago, still beats the coasts by a damn mile.
Roughly one in five live postings - 96 of 515 - requires or strongly prefers the license, which lines up with what we found across the national database. The pattern here is predictable: public accounting wants it on schedule, the healthcare operators want it at manager level and above, and the billing, AP, and payroll seats - 46 live postings between them - mostly don't care. If you're not licensed, Nashville still has a lot of market for you, it just tops out earlier.
About 15% of Nashville-tagged postings advertise a hybrid schedule, mostly at the corporate employers, and fully remote roles generally don't get tagged to a metro at all - they live in the national pool. So if remote is the actual goal, skip the city search entirely and work the remote accounting listings instead. Nashville itself is an in-office market, and the healthcare operators in particular want you near the campus, because that's where the revenue cycle mess physically lives.
Pick a lane instead of spraying applications. Healthcare revenue cycle experience is the single most transferable currency in this metro - take the billing or senior accountant seat at a hospital operator, learn the payer mess, and you become hireable at a dozen companies within ten miles of each other. Watch the finance manager and tax manager postings specifically, because they publish pay far more often than the rest of the market and they anchor your negotiation everywhere else. And when a staffing firm calls, ask on the first call which client and whose payroll you'd land on - it saves everyone a week. As of August 2026 Audit Friendly counts 515 live accounting and finance postings in the Nashville metro, out of roughly 1,700 tracked there over time. The count moves daily as postings open and close.
Postings that publish pay cluster around $89,000 at the midpoint of their ranges, with the broader band running from the high $70s to just over $100,000 depending on industry and CPA status, per Audit Friendly data, August 2026.
About one in five live postings require or prefer one, per Audit Friendly data, August 2026. It matters most in public accounting and at manager level in the healthcare companies, and barely at all in AP, billing, and payroll seats.
In our live data: healthcare operators (OneOncology, Acadia Healthcare, Surgery Partners, Wellpath), public accounting firms (Frazier & Deeter, BDO USA, Elliott Davis), plus Amazon and Yusen Logistics on the corporate side.
Good and specific. Posted pay runs a bit under national averages, but zero state income tax on wages narrows the take-home gap, and the healthcare concentration means deep, durable demand for anyone who learns the revenue cycle.
Nashville isn't a market that waits on the economy, because the healthcare machine keeps hiring through whatever the Fed does - sick people don't check the rate calendar. Learn the revenue cycle, watch the roles that publish their pay, and build the skill set this town actually buys.
