SAP Analytics Cloud is SAP's cloud tool for planning, BI and predictive forecasting, built for enterprises that run S/4HANA, BW or BPC and want budgets, forecasts and dashboards on one SAP-connected platform.
Independently scored, one dimension at a time. Every dimension is sourced, and we say whether a claim is published, reported, or estimated.
SAP Help lists multi-dimensional planning models with versions, allocations, data actions, multi actions, value driver trees, currency conversion and up to 1,000 predictive time series models (checked 30 September 2026). SAP's Rapid FP&A content covers P&L, balance sheet and cash flow with driver-based planning, rolling periods and finance, sales and workforce modules. The Excel add-in writes plan data back to the cloud.
SAP Help documents per-model data auditing (user, time, old and new value per changed cell), data locks, private and public versions and calendar-driven approval workflows (checked 30 September 2026). SAP lists SAP Analytics Cloud in the scope of its SAP Central Cloud Services SOC 1 Type 2 report (1 October 2025 to 31 March 2026) and its 2026 SOC 2 report, both available to customers on request, and SAP's G-Cloud 14 listing states ISO/IEC 27001 certification and customer choice of UK, EEA or other data locations. Two gaps: data audit is opt-in per model and does not log import jobs, and consolidation controls sit in S/4HANA Group Reporting or BPC.
SAP's System Sizing, Tuning, and Limits page sets 1,000,000 members per dimension, a 2,147,483,647-row ceiling per model and 800,000 rows per import job for most API sources on SAP data centers (checked 30 September 2026). SAP Learning advises keeping planning models to 8 to 12 dimensions. SAP Help says its enterprise edition private tenant needs 10,000 users or more, and SAP's Seamless Planning option can store plan data in Datasphere.
SAP Help lists native import from S/4HANA, BPC, BW, SuccessFactors, Concur, IBP, BigQuery, SQL and OData, export back to BPC, S/4HANA, IBP and BW, and live connections to HANA, Datasphere, BigQuery and Snowflake (checked 30 September 2026). Outside SAP it thins out: NetSuite appears only as an Open Connectors CRM source, and Workday, Business Central, QuickBooks, Xero and Sage Intacct are not listed. Snowflake live data is read only.
SAP's G-Cloud listing promises 24/7 phone and web chat with a maximum 4-hour response on Priority 1 tickets, and a UK reseller listing says Enterprise Support is included in the subscription while SAP Preferred Success costs extra (checked 30 September 2026). GetApp shows a 4.3 out of 5 support rating across 120 reviews (reported). Day-to-day help usually comes from the implementation partner.
SAP's US pricing page did not render a price without JavaScript, but SAP itself publishes UK public-sector list prices per license on G-Cloud 14 (May 2024), and a UK reseller posts volume tiers and a 3.3 percent annual uplift (January 2026). Vendr's public SAP page gives per-user ranges by license type. AI Units, Business Data Cloud capacity and partner fees remain quote-driven.
Delivery is partner-led: Deloitte, Capgemini, EY, Accenture and others list SAC implementation services on the UK G-Cloud catalogue (checked 30 September 2026). Model builds need Planning Professional users who can write advanced formulas, and on-premise SAP sources need the SAP Analytics Cloud Agent and Cloud Connector. SAP's Rapid FP&A content shortens the start for S/4HANA customers, but SAP publishes no typical timeline.
In-product AI is real: Joule and Just Ask queries, predictive planning that writes time series forecasts into private versions, and AI-assisted data action scripts and comment summaries (SAP Help, checked 30 September 2026). The premium AI features are billed per prompt in AI Units (reported by Nextlytics, 24 September 2026). There is no first-party SAC MCP server; only a community server over the REST API, and SAP's MCP work targets Joule, HANA Cloud and Integration Suite.

You are buying SAP's strategic planning and BI front end. One tenant covers dashboards, driver-based budgets, private and public versions, data actions, predictive time series forecasts and an Excel add-in that writes plan data back. It imports from and exports back to S/4HANA, BPC, IBP and BW, and BARC calls it SAP's strategic front end for planning, the path for BPC customers whose NetWeaver maintenance ends 31 December 2027 (reported by LeverX). Gartner named SAP a Leader in its 1 December 2025 Magic Quadrant for Financial Planning Software, according to SAP's planning page.
The catch is everything outside SAP. The import reference lists no native Workday, Business Central, QuickBooks, Xero or Sage Intacct connector, and NetSuite appears only through SAP Open Connectors. Consolidation is not in the box: SAP's content reports on consolidated data produced in S/4HANA Group Reporting. Only Planning Professional users can build models and data actions, and on SAP's own UK list that seat cost GBP 1,316 a month against GBP 109 for a Planning Standard user (May 2024). The new AI features that write data action scripts are billed per prompt in AI Units.
Before signing, get in writing: the named-user split between BI, Planning Standard and Planning Professional, with the right to re-tier users down at each anniversary; the renewal uplift cap (a UK reseller list states 3.3 percent a year); whether AI Units and any Business Data Cloud or Datasphere capacity are included; which non-SAP sources your partner will connect, and how; and the data and model export path at exit, since SAP deletes customer data after the term ends.
Jobs, mapped to how finance teams actually buy.
LeverX reports BPC for Microsoft ended June 2026, BPC for NetWeaver ends 31 December 2027 and BPC for BW/4HANA ends 31 December 2030. SAC can connect to BPC standard and embedded models, so teams can move planning first and keep consolidation in BPC during a transition.
SAP Help documents import connections from S/4HANA and BW and export back to BPC, S/4HANA, IBP and BW (via OData). Export to S/4HANA, IBP and BW needs the Enable Legacy Export model setting turned on first.
SAP's Rapid FP&A content for S/4HANA covers cost center, profit center, balance sheet and cash flow planning with driver-based logic and rolling periods. It ships two-way S/4HANA integration and variance views for actual against budget.
Predictive planning trains time series models on actuals and writes forecasts into private versions that planners can adjust and publish (SAP Help). Treat the output as a baseline; accuracy claims are the vendor's.
The SAC add-in for Microsoft Excel lets planners add data to planning models and save it back to the cloud, and it reads live S/4HANA, BW and Datasphere queries. It needs an SAC license per user.
Forget the 40-row feature grid. Pick a finance workflow and see how this tool and its closest peers actually do it, with our verdict on who wins for whom.
Here's what it really costs: published rates where a vendor lists them, aggregated quote data where they don't, plus a path to your own number.
Dashboards, stories, Just Ask and view or private-version access to planning models. SAP's UK list required at least 100 users (May 2024).
Data entry, versions, data locks, running data actions and allocations, plus a full BI user. Minimum 10 users on both UK lists.
Everything in Standard plus creating planning models, data actions and the BPC connection. SAP's UK list requires both Standard and Professional users.
Single-tenant deployment on SAP's May 2024 UK list. SAP Help notes a private enterprise option starting at 10,000 users.
AI-assisted data action scripts, calculations, comment and chart summaries are billed per prompt; a data action request uses 0.23 AI Units.
A UK reseller listing states Enterprise Support is included in the subscription fees; SAP Preferred Success costs extra.
The BTP free plan allows 6 BI, 1 Planning Professional and 2 Planning Standard licenses for 90 days (SAP Help).
SAP Help's license table reserves model and data action creation for Planning Professional (checked 30 September 2026). SAP's UK G-Cloud 14 list priced that seat at GBP 1,316 a month against GBP 109 for Planning Standard (May 2024). Redress Compliance reports that 40 to 60 percent of named planning licenses it reviewed in 2024 to 2025 were used only for viewing or basic BI. Count builders, contributors and viewers before you sign.
SAP Help says data auditing is enabled per model in Model Settings and logs changed cells when data is published from a private version (checked 30 September 2026). It also says audit data is not logged when data is imported into a model with an import job. If actuals or API loads matter to your auditors, log them in the source system or the load process.
SAP's Import Data Source Reference lists S/4HANA, BW, BPC, SuccessFactors, Concur, IBP, BigQuery, SQL, OData and files, plus Open Connectors sources such as Netsuite CRM 2018 Release 1 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM (checked 30 September 2026). Workday, Business Central, QuickBooks Online, Xero and Sage Intacct are not listed. The native Snowflake live connection is read only, and SAP Help advises avoiding tables over a million rows for now.
Nextlytics reported on 24 September 2026 that premium AI features are billed in AI Units at about 7 euros per unit list, with a data action script request using 0.23 units, and that users cannot see the cost at the moment of use. Its test found allocation scripts that failed validation and needed manual fixes. Ask SAP to include an AI Unit allowance and usage reporting in the order form.
SAP's Group Reporting content package for SAC reports on consolidated data built in S/4HANA Group Reporting and loaded through Datasphere (SAP Help, checked 30 September 2026). LeverX describes hybrid BPC exits where statutory consolidation stays in BPC while planning moves to SAC. A buyer replacing BPC end to end needs a separate consolidation decision.
Nextlytics reported on 10 September 2026 that the Q3 2026 release finally discontinues Classic Stories, Analytic Applications and the legacy home screen. Long-running tenants with scripted planning applications should budget partner time to rebuild them, and test them against each quarterly release.
Scored on what an outside agent can actually reach: the documented API, how it authenticates, and whether the vendor ships an MCP server.
Exists: SAP has not published an MCP server for SAP Analytics Cloud. SAP's GitHub organization lists MCP servers for MDK app development, SAP LeanIX and Asset Administration Shell, and the official MCP registry returns no SAC entry (checked 30 September 2026). A community server on GitHub, MIT licensed and created in February 2026, exposes the SAC REST API as 90 tools.
Scope: The community server reaches stories and content, data export (fact, master and audit data), data import jobs, multi actions, calendar events, content transport, SCIM users and schedules, so it can read data and write it back through import jobs. SAP's own REST API covers the same endpoints with OAuth 2.0 client credentials or API keys. Neither path edits data actions or advanced formulas.
Turnkey: No. An SAC administrator must create an OAuth client under App Integration, and the community server runs locally on Node.js. SAP announced an MCP Gateway in Integration Suite at TechEd on 5 November 2025 that can wrap custom APIs as MCP tools, which is admin-built work, and the SAP and Anthropic plan of 12 May 2026 brings Claude into Joule and SAP's Business AI Platform.
In-product AI ships today as Joule and Just Ask natural language queries, predictive planning that writes forecasts into private versions, and compass risk simulations. AI-assisted data action scripts, comment summaries and PowerPoint chart summaries are premium features billed in AI Units, at about 7 euros per unit list (reported by Nextlytics, 24 September 2026), and its test found scripts for allocations needed manual fixes. SAP Enterprise Planning, announced 14 May 2026 with Joule agents for continuous planning, had general availability planned for Q3 2026, the vendor said; no general availability notice was found as of 30 September 2026.
Who wins for whom: SAP shops that want data actions, value driver trees and Rapid FP&A content for P&L, balance sheet and cash: SAP Analytics Cloud. Teams that want five prebuilt planning modules at a published per-user price: Oracle Cloud EPM. Enterprises extending one model across finance, workforce, sales and supply chain: Anaplan.
Data actions drive the reforecast. SAC planning models carry versions, allocations, data actions, value driver trees and up to 1,000 predictive time series models, and SAP's Rapid FP&A content plans P&L, balance sheet and cash flow with driver-based logic and rolling periods.
Where it loses: Only Planning Professional seats can create planning models and data actions, and SAP's 2024 UK G-Cloud list priced that seat at GBP 1,316 a month against GBP 109 for Planning Standard.

Prebuilt modules link three statements. EPM Standard ships prebuilt Financials, Workforce, Capital, Projects and Strategic Modeling modules, and Oracle says income statement changes roll to the balance sheet and cash flow; Enterprise adds custom cubes, Groovy and Monte Carlo simulation.
Where it loses: EPM Standard limits Planning to one input and one reporting cube, so custom cubes, Groovy logic and most AI features need EPM Enterprise at $500 per user a month with a 25-user minimum.

Three statements in one model. Anaplan plans revenue, opex and capex across all three statements in its Integrated Financial Planning app, and the same platform carries workforce, consolidation, sales and supply chain models with scenario modeling and Forecaster ML forecasts.
Where it loses: Builds are mostly partner-led, Vendr says services often cost 50 to 150 percent of first-year subscription, and a workspace's Polaris or Classic engine cannot be changed later.

Who wins for whom: S/4HANA, BPC and BW shops that want native import and approved plans written back: SAP Analytics Cloud. Oracle Cloud ERP and NetSuite customers that want prebuilt adapters: Oracle Cloud EPM. Enterprises mixing SAP with Salesforce, Snowflake and Databricks sources: Anaplan.
Two-way with SAP systems. SAC imports natively from S/4HANA, BPC, BW, SuccessFactors, Concur and IBP, exports approved plans back to BPC, S/4HANA, IBP and BW, and holds live connections to HANA, Datasphere, BigQuery and Snowflake.
Where it loses: NetSuite appears only as an Open Connectors CRM source while Workday, Business Central and Sage Intacct are not listed, and data audit skips anything loaded by an import job.

Fusion actuals in, budgets back. Data Integration has prebuilt sources for Oracle Cloud ERP, which loads actuals and takes budgets and journals back, plus Oracle HCM, NetSuite through Oracle SuiteApps, and EBS and PeopleSoft through the EPM Integration Agent.
Where it loses: SAP data arrives by file, agent JDBC, scripting or the Oracle Integration Cloud SAP adapter, and no native connector is listed for Workday, Salesforce, Snowflake, Sage Intacct or Xero.

SAP and warehouse connectors built in. Anaplan's Data Orchestrator lists 14 import connectors, including SAP HANA, BW and ECC over OData v4, Salesforce, Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks and Oracle Database, with writeback pipelines to Snowflake, Databricks, Oracle and cloud storage.
Where it loses: There is no native NetSuite, Workday HCM or Sage Intacct connector, so those systems arrive through files, CloudWorks or an integration platform, and Data Orchestrator is sold in capacity packages.

Nextlytics reported AI-assisted data actions, calculations, comments and chart summaries cost AI Units at about 7 euros per unit list, with no cost shown at the moment of use.
The Q3 2026 release rolled out 15 and 16 August 2026. Nextlytics reported on 10 September 2026 that it adds data filter parameters for data actions, a compass simulation widget and AI story code generation, and retires Classic Stories and Analytic Applications.
SAP introduced SAP Enterprise Planning, an agent layer built on SAC and Business Data Cloud for continuous planning, with general availability planned for Q3 2026, the vendor said. No general availability notice was found as of 30 September 2026.
SAP announced plans to embed Claude as a primary reasoning model in its Business AI Platform and Joule agents, coordinating across SAP systems via MCP. SAC is not named as an MCP target.
The QRC1 2026 release, rolled out 14 and 15 February 2026, lets SAC query Snowflake views live through the Data Access Agent. Live data is read only and plan changes stay in SAC versions.
SAP said custom Joule agents with MCP and A2A support would be generally available in December 2025 and announced an Integration Suite MCP Gateway. Neither is an SAC-specific MCP server.
SAP quotes SAC per named user by license type. Vendr's public SAP page reports blended pricing of $35 to $50 per user per month for 50 to 200 users, so 150 users would land near $63,000 to $90,000 a year (Audit Friendly estimate from Vendr's range, checked 30 September 2026).
The mix moves the number. On SAP's own UK public-sector list (May 2024), 5 Planning Professional builders, 45 Planning Standard planners and 100 BI viewers would cost about GBP 13,200 a month before discounts (Audit Friendly estimate). Add AI Units, partner fees and any Datasphere capacity.
Subscriptions run for the contract term, and consumption tenants run under an SAP BTP Enterprise Agreement or pay-as-you-go. Redress Compliance reports 3 to 5 year CPEA terms are common (reported). A UK reseller list adds 3.3 percent at each anniversary, so negotiate the uplift cap and the right to re-tier users down.
Data can leave as scheduled CSV exports, through the Data Export Service API (fact, master and audit data), or by export to BPC, S/4HANA, IBP and BW. SAP's own G-Cloud 14 listing says SAP provides a HANA database or full environment copy at end of contract and then deletes the database, while NTT DATA's reseller listing says the customer must extract data before termination. Data actions, advanced formulas and stories are SAC-specific and will need rebuilding elsewhere.
SAP publishes no typical timeline. Audit Friendly estimates 3 to 9 months for a first planning cycle, based on partner-led delivery, model builds that need Planning Professional scripting and BPC migration phases described by LeverX.
Large SIs such as Deloitte, Capgemini, EY and Accenture list SAC services on the UK G-Cloud catalogue. S/4HANA customers can start from SAP's Rapid FP&A content, and on-premise sources need the SAP Analytics Cloud Agent and Cloud Connector set up by IT.
Partly. SAP has no first-party MCP server for SAC. A community MCP server on GitHub wraps the REST API as 90 tools, so an agent with an admin-issued OAuth client can export data, run import jobs, trigger multi actions and work with calendar events.
SAP's agent work points elsewhere: Joule agents inside SAP, an MCP Gateway in Integration Suite (announced 5 November 2025) and a plan with Anthropic to bring Claude into Joule (12 May 2026). None of those is a hosted MCP endpoint for SAC data today.
